The Mission and Vision of philanthropic Agarwal Community
of Chennai for providing "higher education for needy" led to the starting
of the college. "Agarwal Relief and Educational Trust" purchased 8 acres of
land surrounded by mango groves at Madhavaram, on the periphery of the city
to establish and manage an Arts and Science College. Consequently the
Government of Tamilnadu has granted permission to start the college as per
G.O.No.280 dated 6.7.2000. The non-profit motive Self-financing Co-educational
Institution was started during 2000-2001 with three courses :
i) B.Com. ii) B.C.A. iii) B.Sc.(Comp.Sci.) at the temporary site
Shri Narmathadevi J. Agarwal Vivekananda Vidyalaya, M.K.B. Nagar, Vyasarpadi
and University of Madras granted affiliation for these courses as per
Registrar's letter No.A1(GT)2000-2001/2. 164 dated 6-8-2000.
The permanent building was built within a short span of
eight months at Madhavaram with all infrastructural facilities with spacious
class hall, fully air-conditioned and well furnished Computer Laboratory,
well equipped Library, playground, etc. The College is established in an
idyllic location away from the buzzle and dim of city but within the bounds
of Chennai Metropolis. The establishment of the college in this locality
fulfills the need of the people of this area and surrounding localities.

Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal inaugurated the college building by lighting the Kuthuvilakku and
offered blessings for the growth of the institution. An idol of
'Sri Varadha Vinayagar'
has been installed at the Mandabam in the main entrance of the
building and a After successfully completing the First Academic year 2000-2001
with a strength of 66 Students at its temporary site, the college has entered
the fifth academic year 2004-2005 and it has been functioning in the permanent
campus from 1st June 2001 onwards. Along with the existing courses, the college
offers two more new additional courses namely :-
i) B.C.S. and ii) B.I.S.M Information Systems Management) from 2001-2002 and affiliation for these
courses was granted by the University of Madras.
In the academic year 2004-2005 one more new course was introduced.
It was B.B.A which is under the affiliation from Madras University.
During the third academic year 2002-2003 our students'
strength went upto 375, including 171 girls. All the five courses offered
in our college are value-based, job-oriented popular courses.
